In this case, while you try and get whipped. It was a surreal day in a Hamar village near Turmi, Ethiopia. These young girls were watching their older female friends and relatives get whipped - all part of an elaborate ritual which also involved young men running over the backs of cows and bulls.

- and to laugh with, of course! These two were sitting minding their stall in the market at Thimphu. I asked if I could take their photo and he leapt over, threw his arms around her and set her off giggling uncontrollably.
