Third time lucky on this third visit to Cape Town. On the first visit, it wasn't 'whale season', on the second, the whale-watching boat ride was called off as we got into Hermanus. This time, it almost didn't happen either as there were some car issues on the way - and I ended up getting to Hermanus in the pick-up of a complete stranger...but that's another story...

This time, it not only was whale season, it was the Hermanus Whale Festival. It was a brilliant sunny day, the streets were packed - and I probably needn't have gone out on a boat to see whales. They came almost right up to the rocky beach, and (with the exception of breaching) put on quite a show.
